Was just reading the recap of tonight's game on Yahoo Sports, and came across this quote from Oohbaldo regarding his performance:

“I am improving in every aspect of the game,” Jimenez said. “In the last couple of years if I started a game like that allowing two or three runs, I would be down. I wouldn’t have been able to get out of the fifth inning, but now I have a little confidence.”

Hmmm... confidence, you say? Methinks someone has been listening to Rockiescast. Also, methinks that saying 'methinks' is way too much fun.

Can we get a man crush moment for Ubaldo? Consider his feats tonight:

-Going the distance in a close game, especially given Street has closed the last four games

-Doing the old show-bunt-and-pull-back-to-hit-it-past-the-charging-first-baseman-for-the-critical-rbi, but really doing more, that friggin' ball was up at his eyes! the last pitcher i saw do that was julian taverez in 2006 with the Red Sox (and obviously that was interleague play too)

-Throwing 96mph several times in the 9th inning

-Going the distance, yeah said that already, but going the distance after giving up 4ER. I find it more impressive when a guy gets a complete game after giving up 3 or 4 instead of 0 or 1. It shows some serious character when you can take some damage and still get it done all the way.

Another come-from-behind. Another W. I remember thinking in 2007, it's not so much the Rockies figure out how to win as they forget how to lose. Keep up the amnesia guys.

We mention it in tonight's cast. Sarcasm is tough to pick up in print. Especially if you don't know the person writing it. Therefore, if I ever write anything in the blog that you disagree with, just chalk it up to sarcasm.

I wish I got more rugby on tv here. I could go for watching the All Blacks. That pre-game ritual they do would intimidate the hell out of me if I was playing against them.

Abreana - I totally agree (well, the nothingness and the baseball talk, tied). The vast majority of my comment was pure and utter sarcasm, except the bit about watching the All Blacks, as watching the All Blacks is never a bad idea (particularly tonight when they beat up France in Auckland!).

Actually, in my opinion, Lauren, it's the pointless, dull hour of nothingness that makes it so worth listening to. Although adding some stomach punching would make it a little more interesting, I agree.

Geez, you guys are hilarious!! I also love this Podcast and site! It's so awesome. The people on this site produce actually-worth-reading comments, and Scott and Ted are such crack-ups it's great. Even when the Rockies have their suckish moments, our hosts can give us a good laugh. Yay for Rockiestcast!

I know you guys always say that if we want to get involved in the show, to write in or comment on your blog. Here it goes - is there any chance we might be able to get some of this stomach punching into the podcast? I really think you guys have hit on something here (no pun intended), and it would add a certain special something to an otherwise incredibly dull, pointless hour that I spend bored out of my mind listening to you two yahoos jabber on about, well, who knows, I tend to fall asleep during the podcasts anyway. Real reason I moved away from Colorado: it help too many bad associations with listening to you guys.

Ugh, I think I need to go lie down, sip some L&P, munch on a nice mince pie, watch the All Blacks and listen to some Split Enz, that will set me right.
