With Every End, A New Beginning

Now that my dream of a record 110 game winning streak is out of the question (the Rays sure proved why they lead the league in runs scored), where do the Rockies go from here?  With last night’s loss, the Rox are in prime position to start a new 11 game winning streak that will lead them right into their next battle with the Dodgers.  One streak ends, a new streak begins, and it all starts with tonight’s game.  How will the Rockies, who have gotten so used to winning these past 2 weeks, handle a crushing defeat (literally, the Rays were crushing the ball)?  Earlier this season, the Padres had a 10 game win streak.  Now, I don’t think anyone considers that much more than a fluke.  The Rox need to make a statement tonight… a happy taco statement.  Those 11 games they just won were not the fluke.  Last night was the fluke.  They need to come out fired up, scoring runs early and often.  The best way to make the fans forget about last night is to have them focus on the stomach pains and indigestion associated with cheap, delicious tacos.  And what better man to have taking the mound than one Aaron Cook?  It seemed like throughout most of last year he was playing the stopper role, ending 2, 3, & 4-game skids almost every time he took the mound.  Well tonight he’s got a chance to end the Rox longest losing streak in 2 weeks.

I blame Monday’s off day for last night’s loss. We all know that when the Rockies are on a winning streak, they suffer when they play the AL Champions after time off. Fortunately, the game starts at Cookie Monster o’clock tonight, and all will be right with the world.

Couldn’t agree with you more, Ted. We just gotta bounce back, and not let this loss get to our heads.

By the way, Scott, gotta love the ‘happy taco statement’ link!! ;) tacosis… haha.

There is a bright side to last night’s game. The Rays are dominating the majors in stolen bases, but not only did they not steal a base last night, Fogg even picked Bossman Junior off of first. We totally controlled the league’s best running game.

Unforuntately, the key to doing so was allowing 12 of their 17 hits go for extra bases. It’s a lot harder to steal when you start at 2nd, 3rd, or just get a free pass on the bases after a game of ball-smash.

ya great point, the rockies will really prove in the next few games if they are a good team. i mean i think they r a great team…but if they let the losing get to them, the winning streak will be a fluke. if they can bounce back the next couple games they can prove that they are a good team that knows how to win. i have hope with cook on the mound today, and hopefully the offense can keep up. i dont expect us to use the bullpen a lot today, so hopefully we dont need to. hopefully the rockies can pound them today like they were pounded yesterday. will be there tonight! go rockies! and happy taco day tomorrow!

If I knew what they had to do, then they certainly knew what they had to do. I was hoping for a Happy Taco Day, but I’ll settle for the win. How ’bout 10 more!

i say lets make it 11 more and break some records!

Scott June 18th at 8:01 am

How ’bout 13 more? I’d like to get a sweep of the Dodgers in there as well.
