Well, it looks like the Rockies have just gotten the impetus they may have needed to go out and aggressively pursue some strong middle relief. I hope Alan Embree has a quick recovery, and can come back strong next year, from this injury, although the FSN commentators were talking about how Jason Hirsh was never the same after having his leg broken. That may be a problem, as Clint Barmes was quoted after the game as saying, "He's had one great career and hopefully this isn't the end of it." All the best, Alan.

nice pic. when you google nick johnson you also get a fair number of hits which are just the crazy guy from full metal jacket. which i think makes a great deal of sense.

by the way i blame the loss entirely on he train delay. somehow that uber- line of thunderstorms apparently missed fort fun, but i was extremely enraged by every stroke of lightning i could see off to the east as i walked home from the bar.

I suspect that Nick Johnson is sporting a load-bearing mustache. It's all that's holding him up. How else would you explain the Mark Prior of first basemen staying off the DL for so long?

If a man chooses to sport a 70's porn 'stache, that is his decision and he has my full support. If a woman made the same choice, I might question her decision. Sorry for the double-standard ladies, but that's just my honest opinion.

Thanks guys, I guess it was about as bad as I had expected. Do they keep stats of how often that happens? I can't remember ever seeing, hearing or reading about any one taking a ball there while apparently not wearing protection in the Majors.

Also since this is the BotM thread I thought I should share the best (and I guess only) jeer I heard from the fans at Monday night's game: "HEY NICK JOHNSON DID YOU STEAL YOUR MUSTACHE FROM A PEDOPHILE?" I would encourage you to go find a picture of Mr. Johnson to confirm just what a witty inquiry this was, but he's so unspeakably ugly you should probably just take my word.
