Car-Gone! (Revisited)

Car-Gone, Car-Gone, Car-Gonza’s on fire.  We don’t need no water let the crazy homerun hitting continue for the next ten years!  OK, so maybe that doesn’t really fit the rhythm, but Carlos Gonzalez is the hottest thing since Hansel.  After all, how do you overshadow Clint Barmes, who has homered in three straight games?  Car-Gonza’s answer is to homer in four straight, and six of his last eight games.  Yet even with Carlos and Clint’s recent power eruptions, Jason Marquis tying the league lead in wins with 14 and Huston Street saving his 31st game in 32 chances, I left tonight’s game not all that satisfied.

Despite the Rox winning their fourth third game in a row, the inability to drive in runs tonight really bothered me.  Ted talks all the time about run scoring efficiency and I’m pretty sure leaving the bases loaded three times in a game against struggling pitchers is not what he had in mind.  This game should have been a blowout.  Cheap tacos should have been provided to the peole of Colorado.  Maybe I’ll let it slide (this time) because they won, but this offensive inefficiency isn’t going to get it done against the Giants and the Dodgers.  When Ted and I make our trip to the ballpark to see the final game of the series tomorrow, I want to see cheap tacos earned.  That would make me feel a whole lot better heading into the next week and a half of incredibly important games.  They’ve closed each of the last three series with a Happy Taco game.  Let’s make it one more as we sweep the season series against the Nats.

Scott, this was only their third win straight, not fourth. And I completely agree. This should’ve been a blowout, after watching the first inning with Tulo’s double and still none out I figured tomorrow would be a cheap taco day (even though I no longer have access to those cheap tacos) but it wasn’t. Dissapointed in the Rockie’s a little but now worried. The past couple of wins we have been hanging on I feel by a thread. Horrible numbers in RISP, not amazing games for the pitchers although decent, and a Huston Street giving up runs in the 9th. I hope the Rockies get this out of their system and go back to domination when the Giants come to town because this kind of baseball isn’t going to win us the next 10 games. Come on Rockies!!! Heres to the sweep tomorrow.

Scott and Ted, if you are going are you bringing brooms?

Kylie August 19th at 11:43 pm

oh and if you do go to tomorrows game, Ted, will you make an appearance in the pictures?? I would love to see a pic of both Rockiescast hosts at the game

If Cargonzo (or The Bean, as I like to call him) is “Hansel”, does that make Barmes “Gretel”?

Scott August 20th at 6:25 am

Thanks for finding the error Kylie. I must have had Car-Gonza’s 4 straight games with a long-ball on my mind.

I don’t know about Barmes as “Gretel”. Maybe if he put on a wig, but I don’t see it with the shaved head. I think The Bean being “Hansel” makes Todd “Derek Zoolander”. He was the man for a long time, but now there’s a young rookie that is starting to look awesome and steal some of his thunder. Much like we learn at the end of Zoolander, that doesn’t mean Todd isn’t still awesome. Plus I have no doubt that Todd can stop a throwing star by staring it down.

Oh, but I’ve already appeared in the pictures, Kylie. That’s my knee sneaking dangerously close to Scott’s half-smoke. My knee has good taste.

That CarGonza is so hot right now…CarGonza.

I don’t think that counts, Ted. Try to get both of you in a picture And yes, even your “stupid beardless face,” as Scott would gladly point out. Oh, and please do bring brooms!! I want to see a pic with your brooms.

But anyway… I was disappointed watching that game. It should’ve totally been a blowout. It should’ve been 15-4 or something like that. They better get back in shape soon, or they’ll have me worried.

Let’s go for the sweep, Rockies!

PS: Lauren, I love the way you call Mr. CarGonza “The Bean.” I think I might just start doing that, too. ;)

Scott August 20th at 8:29 am

I was browsing the Nats website and apparently brooms are among the items prohibited from being brought into the park. Ted, any chance you can grow a pushbroom mustache before gametime? I think that would count as bringing a broom but wouldn’t be prohibited.

Kylie August 20th at 9:55 am

What kind of stupid park prohibits brooms??? Maybe take one of those mini brooms that preschoolers use (the hand held ones) and hide it in your jacket!

Scott August 20th at 10:20 am

Not a bad idea to prohibit brooms when your team is the worst in baseball and most likely to be swept.

Just a small side note regarding our middle infielders:
Tulo (23) + Barmes (20) = 43 HR
Rollins (15) + Utley (25)= 40 HR

I just thought I’d throw that out there.
