Mr. Late Night

Hey, man, I’m alive. I’m taking the season one game at a time.
We hit the seventh inning and I turn into Mr. Late Night.
Hey, my name is Seth, look what I’ve become
I used to only pinch hit from the seventh on
But then we got Giambi to replace me in that spot
So now I get more chances to go out to left and start
My name is really Garry but I go by Seth
If you want me to get out you shouldn’t hold your breath
Cuz I’m hitting .308 and that stat’s on the rise
I like to hit it in the stands and then watch as the pitcher cries
And now while I play everyday
I have more chance to swing away
I get more hits and drive in runs
And man, it sure is fun
Hey, man, I’m alive. I’m taking the season one game at a time
When I’m up, I know I’ll get on
Hey hey hey hey, man, I’ve got a swing real nice
And I love all those Rockiescast songs by Scott Weiss
We hit the seventh inning and I turn into Mr. Late Night

Seriously, that was awesome. I was writing this while watching the game on a DVR delay. I posted this song and within 3 minutes, Mr. Late Night goes deep in the 8th. The timing doesn’t get much better than that.
This song is dedicated to Ted. It’s hard to find a bigger Bon Jovi fan out there, unless you happen to be near any person.

I heart this. …but mostly, I heart Seth Smith. That man is a lean, mean, late-inning machine.

Back before the season started, when it looked like Dex and Cargonza would both be in the Springs for a while, I made my argument that Seth should be the starting left fielder over Ian Stewart. Even though Stewart has hit a bunch of homeruns this year, I think Smitty has proven my point. I’m interested to see what Tracy does with the outfield once Dex comes back.
