August 2009 BotM Revisited
It is with much relief that we present actual visual evidence that Ryan Spilborghs‘ Time-Travelling Conquistador beard of early August actually existed. This oughta silence all of those Time-Travelling Conquistador deniers out there (mostly Giants and Dodgers fans).

Special thanks go out to Meredith for digging this up for the world to see. So um…thanks, Meredith! Her contributions to Rockies society don’t stop there though. In 2007, Meredith won the Stitch n’ Pitch National Knitting Contest with a Rockies-themed sock pattern. Word on the street is that everyone counted out Meredith’s pattern until it won 21 of 22, steamrolling the rest of the National League of Sock Patterns. Her work was subsequently featured in the April 2008 issue of Rockies Magazine. Some of you might actually have that issue kicking around, as it was the 2007 National League Champions issue. Take a look for her feature…we’ll wait.
See…pretty impressive, huh? Out of the kindness of her purple heart, Meredith offers that Rockies sock pattern and assorted other goodies free on her website: www.meredithknitting.com.

I actually have the April ‘08 issue, and I took a look at the feature. (it’s on page 25 if you’re looking for it) Those are pretty darn awesome socks!! I want a pair!

Those are awesome socks! Meredith, is there any way we could buy a pair from you?
Meredith September 7th at 6:07 am
So cool guys! Thank you SO much! Abreana, Kylie, I’m so glad you like the socks. As for _buying_ a pair, the idea is more that you knit them yourself (or get your favorite knitter to make them for you
). Much as I love my Rocks, if I started doing commissions along with designing, I’d not only make myself crazy, but I’d probably have to quit my day job.
If it’s any consolation, I do have a couple new awesome baseball-themed knitting patterns in the works, so stay tuned!

When does the knitting pattern for a “Spilly’s Beard” hat come out?

I was watching the Rockies game yesterday, and when Spilly hit a double I watched him round the bases, and I noticed he had no facial hair!! Not a beard, a goatee, a mustache, a grizzly chin, or… or anything! I was so crushed. I don’t see how he thinks he can do this to us.

Wow another SUPER AWESOME ROCKIES VICTORY. Giambi delivers AGAIN in the clutch with a walk. Base running specialist Jason Marquis scores the game winner. And of course delivering the crucial hit, none other than reigning NL Player of the Week Seth Smith.
Also Dex is back!
4 game wild card lead!

Oh, tonight’s game was fantastic. I managed to listen to it between classes, getting the 9th inning… sweet, sweet Seth Smith joy. Not bad, boys.

On the one hand, I feel bad for Hammel and Torrealba. On the other hand, that was awesome! I have a feeling both of those guys got over their individual disappointments pretty quickly.

I actually dozed off during the commercials in the middle of the 9th and woke up to find CarGonza up with the bases loaded. It’s not often I’m happy about waking up shortly after falling asleep, but this was an obvious exception.
