San Diego State Sports MBA Info Session…um, Info
As promised in Episode 111, here are some details on the San Diego State Sports MBA Program info session in Denver. The event will take place Monday, September 21 at 7:30pm at Roo Bar, 3480 Park Avenue West in Denver (across the railroad tracks from Coors Field). The event should last about an hour and basically will be a casual conversation with program director Scott Minto over appetizers.
Please e-mail smbainfo@SDSU.edu with any questions or to RSVP. You can also RSVP for the session on the Sports MBA program’s Facebook page: www.Facebook.com/SDSUsportsMBA.
It’s an off-day for the Rockies, so what else could you possibly have going on? You do not want to disappoint this man…

Dang if I could drive I’d totally go to this… bummer. But then again I’m babysitting that night anyway…

Just for the record, if I ever decide to go back to school for an MBA, this is the first application I am filling out.
Ted September 21st at 1:57 pm
Scott, I thought you already had your MBA. Or are you talking about getting one of them “real” MBAs from an “accredited” school? If so, I agree: this is the way to go. Baseball!
Scott September 21st at 2:17 pm
My Meat Ball Award (MBA) is not recognized as an accredited MBA. People just don’t put much faith in advanced degrees from the University of Delicious (U of Deli). It’s probably because I have no proof of graduation. My diploma was printed on phyllo dough, which was immediately used to make a celebratory baklava.
Lauren September 21st at 3:31 pm
Huh, I’d always thought it was spelled “Delhi”, but I guess I was wrong. Scott, I’m so blessed to have a dedicated teacher such as yourself!
Abreana September 21st at 9:59 pm
Baklava is my weakness. Can’t help it. I’m Greek.

solid podcast last night boys. ted wins the round with his brilliant-yet-obvious-in-retrospect observation about how Giambi changes his swing depending on the score.
bravo.
also, were you guys aware of the bronco’s (eddie) ‘royal treatment’ promotion with taco bell, in which one can get TWO *free* tacos the following day from 4-6pm with purchase of a drink when the bronco’s score 2 (or more, i presume) touchdowns? i would argue this shows a decided (appropriate?) lack of faith in Kyle Orton’s ability to put points on the board, but I guess since it can only happen once a week, maybe that’s a reasonably low bar. how do we feel about this promotion in comparison to the one the rockies have going? infrequent free* tacos versus possibly quite frequent cheap** tacos? two tacos isn’t exactly feeding your fever…
or maybe the more important question is, how do the Avs and Nuggets respond? might there come a day when free/cheap* tacos are a possibility year-round in Colorado?
*with purchase of a drink

***yeah

mtc - you are genius. Such questions need to be answered! I think I’m going to apply for the Sports MBA program and craft my masters around the marketing and economics of Free/Cheap Tacos For Coloradans. With much intense, personal research, of course.
Scott September 22nd at 6:23 am
I think someone in the Denver area has to do some research for us, pending both teams’ performances these next few weeks. If the Broncos score two TD’s and the Rockies score 7 runs on the same day, do you get 4 tacos for a dollar plus two free tacos with the purchase of a beverage the next day? Inquiring minds want to know.
Ted September 22nd at 6:27 am
We were so close to finding out last Sunday. If only Jason Giambi could’ve hit two late inning two-run HRs, we would already have our answer. It’s like I always say: Giambi’s time with the Rockies has been a huge disappointment.
Abreana September 22nd at 3:00 pm
I agree with mtc, I think the Avs and Nuggets should get free taco deals too (with the purchase of a beverage). Year-round tacos would be great!! Except the Rockies tacos would, obviously, be the best-tasting ones. No offense to other sports.

“None taken.”

Can we consider this series against the Padres complete before Tony Gwinn Jr. pops out to Eric Young Jr.?
Sons of major-leagurers are not uncommon, but sons playing for the same team as their fathers? Two teams playing each other who both have this rarity?
Ted September 25th at 6:22 am
Yeah, that’s gotta be a rarity, and it’s going to happen again next week when the Brewers come to town. Wait, Prince Fielder’s dad is Robin Yount, right?
Scott September 25th at 6:43 am
No. His dad is Prince, who played for the Lake Minnetonka Twins.
